Nestled amid scenic surroundings down the hill, this fairy tale hotel boasts spacious rooms and a cozy lounge. The retro-styled bathrooms are a bit far from some of the rooms, but fully functional. The breakfast is of high quality with an OK selection of local food. The staff is friendly and attentive, treating guests like royals. the hotel features a modern sauna by the lakeshore, perfect for dipping in the ice-cold fjord water after heating up!
The hotel can be expensive, especially during the national day period.

The location is outstanding, and the surroundings a real treat! The refurbished hotel building is also excellently maintained, and gives a true reflection of its history. Liked it very much.
The room could not be made completely dark, and this was a very big problem considering White Nights. The restaurant also apparently lacked English menu's on the first night (only in Norwegian), but surprisingly had them available on our second night.

The charming exterior and interior
The room was very small. For such a price one would expect a more spacious room. During our stay there were works in progress in the hotel (painting) that caused inconvinience

We stayed in this luxurious hotel and it exceeded our expectations. The service was impeccable, fulfilling our every need. The garden area was beautifully kept and provided a tranquil escape. Our exclusive room boasted elegant and comfortable furnishings. The breakfast was delicious with homemade specialties and refreshing juice. The packed lunch was perfect for our day out. The private facilities were a delight, including a sauna and pool.
The only minor drawback was the lack of live entertainment. Despite this, the bar/lounge area was a comfortable place to relax and unwind.

From the moment I arrived, the hotel staff made me feel welcome. The room was spacious and clean with functioning retro-style features. The beds were comfortable, decorated with rose petals, and the breakfast choices were varied and delicious. The hotel is located in a beautiful area close to nature with a stunning view of the mountains and lake.
Nothing to fault.

Located in a charming historic town, this hotel is a real gem. The building itself is a work of art, with beautiful classic interiors and a breathtaking surrounding landscape. The staff is friendly and attentive, offering great service with a smile. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, equipped with modern amenities like free Wi-Fi. The highlight of our stay was the boat ride down the canal – an amazing experience we will never forget.
The hotel could use a bit of renovation and updating. Some of the furniture looked a bit old, which gave the impression of being worn down.

Amazing historic spot with a great ambiance that will make you feel like you're in the middle of a Norwegian fairytale. The staff is friendly, helpful and handpicked from all over Europe. The restaurant serves an incredible vegetarian menu, and the gardens are breathtaking.
There's nothing to fault here, except it's a little bit out of the way. Despite that, the hotel is easily accessible by car and has some of the best views in the whole of Norway.
